Notes About Swimming Pool Areas
Over the past few years we've received many questions from customers regarding refinishing and corrosion protection in swimming pool areas for:
Diving Board Platforms
Guard Rails
Patio Furniture
Obviously, chlorine vapors can accelerate the deterioration of virtually any painted surface and, recently, many pool owners (including a large number of public pools) have been converting to salt water rather than chlorine, which is healthier but no less corrosive.
The result is that the painted and plated metal surfaces around the pool discolor, the paint begins to peel and the metal corrodes or rusts. Even aluminum will begin to turn chalky white.
The only cost effective long term solution is to remove all the old finish (and corrosion) and put a protective coating on the metal that resists the destructive action of salt or chlorine.
Topps provides an outstanding solution that will provide years of a beautiful protective finish that requires little to no care.
Our process:
1. Remove all rust/corrosion and existing finish -Using aluminum oxide to blast off all the existing finish and corrosion, we provide a clean mechanical etch profile that yields the optimum adhesion.
2. Apply an epoxy based zinc rich primer coat - Our epoxy based zinc rich primer is an exceptionally tough base coat that performs like galvanizing in minimizing the opportunity for corrosion.
3. Apply an exterior grade polyester color coat - Our exterior grade polyester powders are flexible (tolerates impact) and provide outstanding UV resistance. The combination of these coatings virtually seals the metal and shields it from moisture, sunlight and the damaging effects of salt, chlorine and cleaning liquids.
If your pool area is becoming a maintenance headache and it seems you can't stay ahead of the rust... Give us a call.
We'll be delighted to discuss your requirements and provide you a long lasting beautiful protective solution.
